Hi, folks. I'm new here to PCbanter, and I've got a glitch I can't see
to get around. I'm building a computer for my wife... my first attempt
I'm working with an Asus motherboard with an Athlon CPU and plenty o
RAM. I've moved over a floppy drive from the old computer, and I'v
put in a new Western Digital 80GB HD and Plextor DVD drive. I believ
I've managed to get the HD partitioned properly (NTSF) and everythin
goes fine until the system starts copying the Windows files. It onl
gets in about 1% when it stalls. I've rebooted and it gets to the sam
point and it stalls. I've shut down and cooled off then restarted an
it stalls. I don't have anything extra hooked up expect the fans fo
the CPU and case, so I don't think it's a hardware conflict.
Anyone have any suggestions? Recommendations? Alternatives? Las
rites?
Thanks for your consideration.
