XP home - cannot get passed log on screen

T

The Apprentice

I was following instructions on a website to remove log on as I wanted XP to start up
without having to click the username.

Now the classic log on box appears and will not let me log on..... the system could not
log you on. The username is the one given at setup and is not coming up as administrator.

Tried logging on in safe mode and still asked for the password

Tried hitting OK without a password and that did not work. Checked caps lock as well.

I have a netbook so no CD drive.

I tried booting from USD hard drive but got a cable failure message in dos as I wanted to
reboot with the recovery CD.

Model MSI Wind U100

Any suggestions before I head off to the techs?

On pc start-up,tap the F8 key,safe-mode,enter xp as administrator, once in
xp,edit user file in control-panel....Actually in user accounts, one would
select
"change the way xp opens up" or similiar phrase.
