XP Home can read 200GB USB HDD but not 1TB

I have two machines, one an XP Home (PC) and the other an XP Pro (laptop).
The Home is on a newer, faster machine that has an updated BIOS. The laptop
is several years old. Both are patched. The Home machine will read my smaller
USB drive (200 GB), but it says "USB Device Not Recognized" for the 1TB laCie
Big Disk. My laptop reads either. I need to read files off the 1TB drive that
are in incess of 200 GB, and I don't want to copy to another drive off the
laCie.

Is there any kind of limitation placed on XP Home regarding external drive
sizes?

Thank you.

Is your LaCie drive a USB 2.0-only device, and does your old computer have
USB 1.1 only?

No, it's both 1.1 and 2.0. My laptop is 6 years old, and it reads it just
fine.

Hmmm. I can't imagine this is an OS issue, honestly. But I'm not sure; I
don't use Home anywhere. Have you tried asking LaCie support for help? Sorry
I don't have an answer for you...

Thank you for your comments. I have submitted a request to LaCie for support.
