xp Home and pro in recognizing new HD

does xp home have the same ability to see new HD as XP?
I ask this as I was attempting to read a (failed hd) on home, and it
wouldn't even see it even though the bios saw it.
I was wondering if Pro would read it, since it was in someone elses pc, I
couldn't remove it and try on my Pro machine. the failed Drive doesn't boot,
(it was the Primary HD) I at least removed the drive to allow the owner to
take it to a data recovery business.

There is no difference between Home and Pro in this regard.
