xp has screwed up my computer!!!!

I installed win xp pro on my computer i just built and
everything was fine untill it finished copying the files
and then it rebooted. Now here is the screwed up part,
once it restarts all i get is a black screen with a
underscore at the top. And my comp now will now boot the
xp cd to try to reinstall so i have no clue what to do if
anyone can help me plz do.
