xp hangs at installation

i have f-disked my computer because it wouldnt properly set
up graphics for my graphics card. now i am trying to
install xp. the bios has been set to read floppy then
cdrom then hard disk. it goets throught the ram count and
starts checking the devices. it is here that it should
start to load from cdrom. however it displays "hardware
monitor", a whole bunch of stats, and then the message
"verifying dmi data pool". it is here that it hangs and
has continued to hang for 2 hours. any suggestion?

Since the XP CD is bootable...
Belt & suspenders not always a good idea.

My XP did the same thing........until I unplugged my cable modem from the
eithernet card.
