XP hangs after logging off...

Could someone please help me with this annoying problem. I have Windows XP and it seems to hang after I try logging off. I dialog box pops up and mentions the file "wupdater.exe" and ask me if I want to end the process .... I click end now and then it hangs and I have to reboot. Can someone tell me how to get rid of this annoying problem

This is associated with a Hijacker -- ie malware. See this link:

Run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should update
and run them weekly.

Don't rely on just one program. Often times one will catch what another
misses. Also see the first link. It has specific instructions.

It think that did it. I used the spybot program and it did the trick
