XP Halts needs F1 to continue

Xp loads up the drivers hard drives,keyboard,mouse etc. then halts and asks
for F1 to continue. Once you do that it goes to the desktop. What can I do to
get rid of this step it never did this before.

When did this start happening, or has it always happened?

Enter the BIOS setup and make sure the drive Windows is installed on
is set to Boot first.

Make sure there is no disk in the floppy drive.

If you have S.M.A.R.T. disk monitoring enabled, you may have a disk
that now fails the test done at bootup. Read the words closely on the
screen and reboot while watching the screens for the result of the
SMART test.
