Excuse the repost, but I've changed the subject line to
possibly generate more interest than my initial post did
four days ago (which is none!)

I've been searching newsgroups and have downloaded Doug
Knox's XP Security Manager and haven't found the answers
I'm looking for, so . . . .

Is there a way that I can prevent a "limited" user's
account from accessing printers or shutting down the
computer?

According to my computer's help, when searching for "printer
permissions", I can hold down the CTRL key when right
clicking on a printer, then choose properties and there
should be a security tab, but I don't get that tab when
I follow these instructions. (My guess: MS cut corners
on the help and what I'm reading only applies to XP Pro.)

Help!

And TIA,

Just rightclick the printer under the Control Panel and click Properties.
Then you can click the Sharing tab (not security tab).

I thought the sharing tab had to do with allowing remote users access to
my stuff, not local users.

In XP Home you have to boot in safe mode to see the security tab. In XP Pro
you have to disable simple file sharing.

Thank you Ricky; the next time I can reboot the system I'll give that a try.

Okay, I tried this, but in safe mode I have no printers to right click
on, hence, no Security tab. Am I doing something wrong?
