XP from 98 question

I installed XP on desktop from 98. Is there a way to go back to 98 to retrieve files? if i uninstall XP does it revert back to 98 and my old settings?

Clean install or Upgrade install?

Only IF
You installed as an Upgrade
Saved system files as suggested
Have not converted to NTFS

If all of those, then the re will be an 'Uninstall Windows' in Add
Remove programs.

But from what you say about going back to retrieve files I don't think
that is what you did. If you cannot find data files then you probably
formatted the disk in the process - in which case the files are gone
