XP Freezes when right clicking in my computer.

I have XP home edition and every time I right click on
anything in explorer, not internet explorer (like my
computer), the window freezes and I have to do the famous
control-alt-delete to close it. I have all updates and
closed any background processes that could have possibly
been the problem. he windows version is retail and I
tried to repair windows but when I booted from the cd to
repair it, it asked for my administrator password. I put
my password in but it was unsuccessful. I'm not sure if
there is a different password or I'm just not typing the
password in correctly. I also tried system restore but
that also didn't work. I'm stumped and need assistance.
Please help.

sound like you're on the right track with a repair. Did
you try using a blank password on the admin account?
