Is there some way of changing the locations for some of the folders setup by
XP? For example

My Music, My Pictures etc. I want to have them off my C drive. When I go
to properties for the folders there appears to be no way of changing the
location.

If you right click on My Documents and select Properties, there is a Move
button. Use it to move this folder. If your My Music, My Pictures and so on
are still subfolders within My Documents, they'll stay put and move with
the folder.

Open a My Computer window on
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname
to show them, and another on the place where you want them (eg say on
D:\you to avoid confusion if you also do it for D:\someone else)

Then with the *right* mouse button down, drag the folder across and take
*Move* Here on release

Open Explorer, in the left folder pane, right-click on "My Documents" and
select properties. In the "Target" tab, change only the drive letter in the
target folder location field (from C to D for example), or click the Move
button to select a new folder.

This will move all the the My Documents folders to the location you specify.

That will move the logical pointers - it will not do a move of existing
files.

See Raymond Chen's comment on the My Computer - Special Folders page of
TweakUI for XP
