HI,

I AM CONFUSED ON MY WINDOW XP FIREWALL.

SOMETIMES WHEN I START UP MY COMPUTER I RECEVIE A POP UP SAYING THAT MY
INTERNET SECURITY IS TUNED OFF. SO I THEN CLICK SECURITY CENTER AND EVERTHING
IS TURNED ON. (GOOD)

WHEN I CLICK ON THE FIREWALL OPTION THE TURNED OFF BUTTON IS PICKED. SO I
THEN PICK TURN ON FIREWALL OPTION.

THE NEXT TIME I START UP MY COMPUTER THE TURN OFF BUTTON IS CHOOSEN
AUTOMATICLY.

WHY DOES MY SETTING CHANGE BACK TO THE OFF OPTION?

HOW CAN I MAKE THE FIREWALL STAY ON PERMANTLY???????????
PLEASE HELP.

THANK YOU KINDLY,
PAB

P.S. I HAVE MORE THAN ONE SECURITY OPTIONS. SOMEONE TOLD ME YOU CAN
ONLY HAVE 1

IF THIS IS TRUE CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT ONE I SHOULD USE AND WHY SHOULD I USE
IT?

I AM NEW TO ALL THIS COMPUTER PROTECTION.

I HAVE NORTON INTERNET SECURITY, SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY AND MICROSOFT
ANTISPYWARE

First, please turn off the caps lock. Posting in all caps is considering
shouting and rude on Usenet, but more importantly it makes your post
hard to read and limits the number of useful answers you will get.

The reason the Windows Firewall is off is because you have Norton
Internet Security. Leave the Windows Firewall off and use the firewall
in NIS. Running two firewalls is not a good thing and the firewall in
NIS is more complete than the Windows Firewall.

Your security seems fine. Now you just have to practice Safe Hex. Here
is a good site explaining that:
