XP Firewall and ftp ?!?

Hi,

I've got a very strange error with my windows Xp SP2 and ftp dos command line.
To use ftp.exe, I need to disable the Firewall so that FTP can connect to
server.
If I enable the Firewall, I only got the connexion string and the prompt for
username never come !

I've try to add the ftp.exe program in the exception list but it's still the
same error.

Does any1 know how to do it runing ?
Thnx

Hi,

You can set the following registry value to 65534, so that the FTP client
will use dynamic ports between 1024 and 65534 for file transfer.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\MaxUserPort

This change ensures that the FTP client can use all the available ports in
the system when Windows Firewall is enabled. Therefore, the client will not
reuse the ports and the server should have enough time to close the open
sockets after file transfer.

Hi Hegms,
Adding to Anton suggestions Try to download WISE_FTP or CUTE_FTP and
transfer your files and folders through it and assign them in the Firewall
Exceptions.
Try to Enable the Port 21 in the Firewall to allow connection, I heard some
ISP prefer to Block this Port21.
If you have another Firewall rather than Windows try to assign the port to
allow connection.
Hope this helps
