XP Fax and no Outlook Address Book

P

After installing Outlook 2000 the Windows XP Fax Service
did not switch to using the Outlook Address Book in place
of the Windows Address Book.

Outlook 2000? You're pretty far out of date here. In what mail support mode
did you install Outlook 2000?

I've never seen a scenario where Outlook 2000 was installed _after_ Win XP
Fax, since Outlook 2000 is so much older than Win XP Fax. I doubt this
integration was even tested before Win XP Fax was released.
What is Win XP using instead? Did you add the Fax Mail Transport to Outlook?

I have another machine which had Outlook 2000 & Windows
2000 Pro installed. After upgrading to XP Pro, XP Fax
began using the OAB in place of the WAB as it should.
The failing upgraded machine is still using the WAB. I
have added the Fax Mail TRansport, but I am not using
Outlook to fax. I am am faxing from a word document but
the only addresses offered are from the WAB and not the
OAB.

Odd. How many Outlook profiles do you have and what transports are in your
default Outlook profile?

Well let's reset it then. Remove it. Restart Outlook. Re-add it. Next, R
click on the Contact folder or folders you want the OAB to display, choose
"Properties", go to the Outlook Address Book tab and check the "Show this
folder as an E-mail address book" box. You may also need to go to Tools >
Options > Addressing Tab and choose to show your Contacts folder.

Russ,

Thanks for all your help.
We opened a case with Microsoft and the problem was IE's
EMAIL program was set to Outlook Express instead of
Outlook. This was forcing XP Fax to use the WAB rather
than the OAB.
