sorry to post this again,

but i can't find my previous post

i get this error before XP can start up:

"Checking file system on C:

The type of the file system is FAT32.

One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency,
you may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly
recommended you continue.

Windows will now check the disk.

Volume serial number is ________.

Windows is verifying files and folders.

Was there some sort of question involved? What you are seeing is normally
the result of two mistakes: 1. using the unreliable FAT file system rather
than NTFS and 2. shutting down the computer improperly.

Okay - yes - your disk is being checked for errors. Does it find any?

Run checkdisk...go to start>run, enter 'command' (without the quotes.)
in the window that opens type chkdsk /f

it will tell you that it cant do it now do you want to do it on reboot,
select yes.exit, reboot.

How do you shut your system down?

It could also mean there is a physical problem with the
disk.
