XP fails to restart after installing Windows Update Service Pack

Hi,

Yesterday, I installed the Windows Update service as
recommended by the computer. During the installation it
crashed at about 98 percent. Now, XP fails to restart...it
appears to go into an endless loop. I have tried using
Safe Mode but the same thing happens. I believe the
Harddrive is still working becuase the initial Windows XP
logo comes up...any suggestions?

I have gotten the same thing and I saw another post with
the same problem. Was it the DirectX 9 Security
Update?? I am currently searching for an answer myself.
I will share information if I find it....could you do the
same for me?? thanks..
