XP Fails to Recognize Installation CD

(Attempted) Uninstall of MSN-Messenger demanded retrieval of missing file
from XP-Pro Installation CD.

PROBLEM: After inserting XP-Pro Installation CD, I get (erroneous) Error
pop-up:
"The CD you provided is the wrong CD ..." [BTW - Only XP Install disk I
own!!]

First, Microsoft XP "authentication" hoop-jumping & now this ...
INFURIATING !!!

Anyone have ANY useful suggestions ???
