I have 2 xp computers on my network with 450 windows 2000
pro computers.I run win2000 adv server,win2003 Enterprise
Edition, novell and unix.On my xp boxes the users don't
have admin rights. My problem is the event viewer fills up
with app events, security events and system events and the
users get a message that the event viewer is full and only
the admin can login and clear it.I have tried to increase
the space for the events, when the user logs back in the
changes that I made as admin are changed back to
default.Am I overlooking something?

Mike-

Yes, try this: Open Event Viewer. One by one, right click on each log and
select properties.

Check 'Overwrite events as needed', and your users shouldn't have this
problem again.

Keep in mind that in many cases these events hold important info. You should
also increase each maximum logfile size to 4096 or more. These event logs
can and should be saved and archived.

Good Luck!

I have increased the log files and I also save all of the
logs when I go in as ADMIN. When the user logs in it all
goes back to default. When ADMIN logs in the changes that
I made are there. I have even deleted the users profiles
and then had them log back in to set a new one but still
doesn't change. I heve heard that a few other people have
the same problem. If you can think of anything else please
let me know.

Thanks
