Event viewer access denied connecting to a remote computer

Computers are in a domain environment. Attempting to connect to the event
viewer on another computer on the network, but not on the domain. Access
denied when trying to connect to it. Just for troubleshooting, I added
everyone to the local admin group on the remote computer. This allowed me to
connect to computer management, view everything, except for the application
and system event logs, still comes up with access denied. Both systems are
running XPSP2. Firewall is off on the remote system. This KB article was of
no help: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/840634 Any suggestions?

When you attempt to connect to another non-domain computer, you will need to
specify a set of credentials that exist on that targeted computer.

I figured as much, but how do I do so? When connecting to the remote system,
it doesn't give me an option to supply credentials.
