xp embedded as in house desktop pc

Hello all,

I have a simple question. I want some machines in my company (production
machines) to run xp embedded because the software that runs on them is setup
for windows XP and it is no longer available.

Is it legal to have in-house machines with XP Embedded?

Thanks

XP Embedded is intended for dedicated systems, not generic PCs. If these
machines are only running the single application or a few limited
applications, then there should be no problem. MS Office is prohibited.

So even if you have a license for XP embedded and MS Office, you may
not install MS Office on XP Embedded?
or did I misunderstand you?

You should always contact your MS distributor or license contact for more
information about licensing. There is an option to install pieces of Office
if it is for a dedicated application.

You did not misunderstand. Your XPe license doesn't allow you to
install Office on it. If it did, why would people pay for XP Pro for
general use machines when XP Embedded is cheaper?
