XP drops wireless connection

Michael

I have been chasing this issue, looking for help. Have a
Lynksys WRT54GS Router,a SMC Networks SMC2835W Cardbus
adapter.
When I first bootup everything is fine, I establish a
netwok connection and all is well, after a short period
of time, anywhere from 1-10 minutes I will lose the
network. Only a reboot or physical remove and replace
the adapter card will allow a reconnect. Then it repeats.
Download XP2 and that has not corrected the problem.

?????Thanks in advance,
Michael

Michael,

I have a similar problem. Mine came courtesy of the SP 2
upgrade. Prior to that my Linksys gear (WRT54G router,
matching card) worked perfectly. Now, everytime I turn
on my notebook, SP 2 loses the connection immediately
after booting. I have to go the network connection
and "repair" the connection (click the "repair" button
and watch XP disengage and re-engage eveyrthing). This
is a dull pain that neither MS nor Linksys has any idea
what to do.

Check the Authentication options in your wireless network adapter's settings
and make sure that you don't have 802.1x authentication enabled. You'll
find this by right-clicking your wireless adapter in the Network Connections
box, selecting Properties, then the Authentication tab.
