xp driver update

how do I stop repeated attempts by xp to install an incorrect network card driver obtained via windows update web site?
 
Go to Windows Update, scan for updates, in the left pane click on
Personalize Windows Updates, uncheck whatever you don't want to update,
click Save Settings.
