Hi there

I have a brand new laptop, with 3G of RAM. For some reason when memory usage
approaches the 1.2G mark programs start crashing, or not opening anymore, and
i have to close apps down in order to load anything new. I have tried turning
swap file off, exactly the same thing

XP SP2.. current to all patches (not running ie7)

Any suggestions I have tried re installing XP, removing apps that might be
the prob, but nothing i do seems to work.. i am just baffled!

cheers

Any error messages? See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427

Have you ruled out a malware infection?

You might very well have a hardware issue. Did you make sure your RAM is
seated properly? Did you remove RAM sticks to test if any are faulty?
What kind of RAM do you have? How many sticks? Have you always had this
problem or is it recent? And if it's recent, can you pinpoint anything
in particular that happened before your problem?

You might also want to test your RAM:

out on the keyboard:
Can anyone else help at all please?

If it's brand new, take it back to where you bought it or contact the
manufacturer. Sounds like bad RAM, but could be many other things.
