XP doesn't recognize my scanner

Keith Russell

Windows XP doesn't recognize my scanner. I have
uninstalled, reinstalled, updated drivers and still no
luck. I have a Microtek Scanmaker 3630. Here are the
error messages I get when I attempt to run the scanner:
Scanner not found. Please check:
That the scanner is connected to computer.
USB settings are enabled in BIOS.

My scanner worked perfectly fine with Windows 98.
Please help. You can email me directly.

Thanks,
Keith.

Hi Keith -

Uninstall the old scanner driver from your computer.

Download and install the Windows XP driver:

(link may wrap)

Good luck!

How do I know the old driver and the new driver? I have
already installed the new driver and it doesn't work. Can
I call you?

Make sure you have the scanner switched on before switching the computer on.
I had the same problem with a microtek scanmaker

Hi Keith -

And I'm foolish enough to post my phone number on the Internet for all the
world to beat a path to my door?!?!?

I don't think so.

Your first line for user support should be Microtek. Folks who post
suggestions for fixes on this newsgroup are doing so as a courtesy to those
who have problems -- not out of any obligation to provide any further
support.

Also... have you tried the suggestion Brian Harvey made further down the
thread? Looks like the voice of experience talking there.

I don't think I understand your reply.

Never mind my reply. I posted "Setting up Port for a Freq. Scanner"
and I thought you were replying to me.

Can you help me?
