XP does not recognize a new SATA hard drive

I just added a SATA HD to a system with an IDE HD. Bios sees it, Device
Manager sees it, but it doesn't show in My Computer. I would format it
but when I run Disk Management only the first HD and DVD drive show.
Any ideas? They are both Western Digital Drives. #1 60GB IDE system
drive, #2 250GB internal SATA HD.

Is RAID enabled in the BIOS? If it is you'll have to install a driver before
Windows will see the drive. Alternatively disable RAID in the BIOS and the
SATA drive should show up in Windows. It depends on your BIOS and the drive
controller.

RAID is always disabled by default till the user turns it on in the BIOS.
However set the BIOS to run IDE and SATA hds, usually found in integrated
peripherals or similiar.
