XP does not go back to Welcome screen after screen svaer

Tina

After the last Microsoft.net Framework update, login slightly different my
ADMIN user and GUEST user login show up in the XP welcome screen, but the
password box is already highlited as if I had clicked on the ADMIN user
picture. That does not irk me much, but after the screen saver comes on , if
you touch a button or move mouse instead of the Welcome screen like it used
to ,which again had ADMIN or GUEST, it has the "traditional classic" login "
"This computer is locked..... I would like to have it go back to the welcome
screen after the screen saver has come up.

1. Click Start - Control Panel - open User Accounts
2. Click "Change the way users Log On or Off"
3. Make a check mark on "Use Fast Users Switching"

Hope this help, let us know!

I have the same problem, and it has nothing to do with using fast users
switching (at least for me), since that option has always been selected and
doing so makes the welcome screen appear. The only time the classic user
login box appears is after the screen saver.

Fix Windows XP Logon/Restore Welcome Screen

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/fix_xp_logon.htm

Usage: Download XP_FixLogon.ZIP and save this file to your hard drive.
Navigate to where you saved it and double click the file. Extract
XP_FixLogon.exe from the zip file and double click it. The program will tell
you if repairs are needed or not.

This utility checks for the correct GINA value in the Registry and will
allow you to restore it, if its incorrect.

Hope this help, let us know!

Hey thanks for replying. I will save this information, but I found an
alternative solution yesterday that solved the problem:

Click Start, Run, type 'regedit' and hit OK. Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList. Change the ASPNET DWORD value to 1.
This will unhide it from the Control Panel “User Accounts†and this will
also change the "On resume, Password protect" to “On resume, display Welcome
screen" in the Control Panel/Display/Screen saver dialog.
