I posted a message a couple days ago w.r.t XP Home not
resolving domains when using dialup. I have checked
almost every post relating to this same issue to find a
solution but nothing works.

I tried repair installation and reinstallation of SP1 but
nothing seems to work. I guess my only other option is
to do a clean install, but I don't want to do that if I
will continue to get the same problem.

Failing that I guess I will resort back to W2K. At least
I know that works.

Has anyone found a solution to their problem as yet?
TIA.

Hi Anthony,

Can you describe the problem in more detail? What error(s) do you recieve?
Can you ping your DNS server? What happens if you test with nslookup?

Thanks,

problem and error messages in the Event Log

=====
I have XP home with SP1 installed. For the last week i
have not been able to browse any web sites. I can
however, connect to the ISP. Once connected, even though
the ISP's DNS servers are shown when I do an ipconfig, my
system cannot resolve any addresses. I can ping the ip
but not the name, hence, not being able to browse.

I tried to reset the IP to its original config using the
netsh command. No Luck..

I reinstalled XP Home with the repair option and also
reinstalled SP1.. No Luck.

The following errors appear in the Event Log.

1. The Task Scheduler service terminated with the
following error:
Not enough resources are available to complete this
operation.

2. The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service
terminated
with service-specific error 2147952506 (0x8007277A).

3. The IPSEC Services service terminated with the
following error:
The requested service provider could not be loaded or
initialized.

4. The server {4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097}
did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Can anyone help me out of this rut?
