XP disconnecting my modem and printer

Help - I have been sent some emails with w32.netsky(z p
and d) viruses which have been detected by Norton. Now
my windows xp, when booted doesn't detect my modem and my
multimedia. Looking for help brings up script that
Norton doesn't like (helpctr.exe). I have fully scanned
my computer and Norton says that I am not infected but my
computer is acting as though it is. I use Office XP but
do not use Outlook - I continue to use Outlook Express
6. I have tried to download patches etc for OE6 but when
I try to install it won't because it says it needs OE6
installed to do so - it is! I am upto date with windows
updates and my norton antivirus. Any ideas people?

"Worms" eat away at vital operating files. If you were to
get a virus, and did not clean it for a while, chances are
it will still be there, or has done irreversable damage.

You can try running virus scans from
http://housecall.trendmicro.com and
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/

also try ad-aware (www.lavasoftusa.com) and spybot S&D
(www.safer-networking.net)
