XP Deactivate?

I am having a problem activating windows...

Here is the scoop?

PC 1 Had Windows 2000, A number of months ago I purchased a upgrade to
Windows XP Pro, installed, activated no problem. Recently I purchased a
full install (not an upgrade) of XP Home and did a clean install of it on
this machine (is being moved to my daughters room). Installed XP Home
activated no problem.

I now want to use the original XP Pro liscence/SN to upgrade another 2K
machine.

It seem that I should be able to since that SN is no longer in use on the
original machine since it is using the new XP home full install. But when I
activate I get an error message. Is there a way to deactivate the XP Pro
upgrade so that I can use it?

What is the actual text of the error message that you get when try to
activate your XP Upgrade on the second machine?

If it has been over 120 days since that license was activated on the
first machine then there should be zero problems in activating it on
the second machine. And if it is less than 120 days then the worst
that should happen is that you will have to phone the Microsoft
Activation number that the computer displays for you. Explain that
you have removed the upgrade from the original computer and now want
to install it on the second machine and there should be no problem.

But the actual *verbatim* text of that error message will tell us
exactly what is going wrong.

Good luck

You will have to activate by phone.

So activate by phone then! I fail to see the problem!
