XP Critical updates somewhat scarce

When was the last time Microsoft released a critical (i.e. security)
update for XP? By my recollection, it's been at least two months. I reckon
it's a good thing if no critical updates are necessary for a while. I only
ask because I thought Microsoft had a policy of issuing those types of files
once a month.
 
why would they "issue a file" if there was no need? a
critical update means some thing has been found that
needs patching.

unless the critical update is a major reported one ,the
crack microsoft bug team may not rush to get the latest
patches out.
