XP creating extra unwanted LAN connections

i was having some trouble with LAN performance so i went
to reinstall the card and drivers. i noticed my adapter
was somehow labelled #2. i went into network connections
and my LAN was labled LAN connection #3. i resinstalled
the card and it became #4. i popped in my xp pro CD and
did an install to try to repair the structure and now it
is #5. any ideas?

Is that a problem? You can always rename the connection...
