I believe I have a virus that is trying to protect itself. When I try to
open, Control Panel the puter crashes. When I try a virus scan it crashes.
When I try scanning with Microsoft Antispyware it crashes. When I try to
access Security Center it crashes. I watched the virus scanner as it was
scanning and when it got to, Prgram Files\Common\Msshared, it crashed. So I
went to Windows Explorer and went to the Msshared folder and as soon as I
clicked on that folder it crashed. The recovery error report says it could be
the "Intel Disk Manager" but I've already replaced that with Intel
Application Accelerator per Intel's recommendations.
Is there anyway to repair that apparent damage?

Have you downloaded/utilized the hard drive manufacturer's hard disk drive
utility to test the hard disk drive?
