XP crashes 5 seconds after thumb drive removal. Otherwise, works perfect.

Any ideas?

Do you stop the device before removing it or do you just pull it out of
the USB port?

What exactly do you mean by crashing? Blue screen, stops responding,
something else?

I am interested in this also. My brother has the same problem. He hadn't
stopped the device for the first several months of use. Then my nephew told
him that he should stop it. Bling!!! He had to restart the computer. Again
and again. HP Tech support couldn't help after a couple of hours. Then the
time honored tech routine of "I'm going to put you on hold" followed in a
couple of mnutes with a disconnect.
