XP crash on Shutdown / startup - help!

Hi, I recently installed a new PC game (FIFA football 2003)
on my XP machine. The first time I ran the game, my PC
rebooted with a message saying my RADEON 9000 video adaptor
had a problem.

I reset the game to use a lower level of graphic detail and
now it operates fine. However, when I shutdown the PC and
restart, I get a message saying the system has recovered
from a serious error (bugchk) but no indication of what the
problem is.

I *think* the problem is happening on shutdown, although I see
the problem logged in the system event log on startup. Both shutdown
and startup seem to take a 'normal' amount of time.

I have tried deinstalling the game, and also doing a system restore
to before when I installed it - the system restore fails.

Any hints on resolving the problem ? Would reinstalling the
RADEON 9000 driver be worth a try ?

The system operates fine except for the shutdown / restart.

thanks
