My installation of Windows XP has been corrupted, to the point where
using the repair console doesn't seem to have any effect (unable to get
into safe mode either).
I initially tried installing Windows 2000, which has been successful
and I am able to see all the folders from the XP install (my documents
etc).
I think the best route is likely to be to flatten the system and do a
fresh install - however, I need to get the files off the system first.
Problem is that when I try to access them, I get a 'not authorized'
message (xp logon was password protected). I obviously know the
password, but I'm unsure how I can tell the system what it is - it
doesn't prompt for it or anything.
Any workarounds for this?
Any help would be very much appreciated!
