XP Compressed drive in Vista?

I'm trying to find out if a drive compressed with XP/SP2 will work with Vista?
A little history: I have a P4/3.06Ghz, 1 Gb Ram. I have 4 drives in it, one
being a 300 Gb SATA. I have compressed the drive (all of the files). I am
getting ready to build a new computer, Core2Duo 2.66 Ghz, 2Gb Ram, 2 new 250
Gb SATA drives. I will be installing Vista Ultimate. I want to move, at
least, this drive to the new computer.
Will Vista be able to read the files or even the drive?

You can compress a Hard Drive In Vista so i can't see why Vista would not be
able to read files or the drive. It is only a compressed hard drive

Thanks, but that just doesn't make me comfortable enough. I've been reading
the posts about the horror stories of losing data already. This drive has 300
Gb on it and I don't want to lose it. I intend to uncompress it once it is
installed.

There should always be a backup of important, and non replaceable data.
What happens if that drive dies? Is there a backup? You need to be
prepared for that as much as for data loss when moving to a new OS. Things
happen.
