XP change language from italian to english

Hi,

I would like to change the language of my System from Italian to English. After looking in the Internet I found out that I need to make a new Installation. Can I just put in the XP Cd in the drive and do an installation without formatting the the harddrive or do I need to delete everything on it. I would like to keep the stuff on the harddrive though. In an earlier comment I was reading something about uninstalling Windows. What does this means an and how do I do it?

Any hints ?
