Could someone tell me if XP has an "inbuilt" CD burner & if so how wouldI
go about using it.
It does - but it is limited. May not work with all models of burner
drive.
Check at My Computer - r-click the Drive, Properties, and on the
Recording page check 'Enable recording'. If it is not there the
software will not work with this drive
Then if you select files and right click, Send To will include the drive
as a destination. This stashes up files in a holding area. When you
have accumulated a first lot to make a burning session (one has an
overhead of about 14MB, so may sure you do a worth while amount at a
time), you can r-click the drive in My Computer and 'Write files to CD',
which will start a Wizard and ask for a blank disk. At the end this
will be ejected - and can be used like any CD-Rom. You can put it back,
open to view files in Explorer, and that will show an area of files
awaiting writing: any you have queued in the mean time, and you can add
to it by drag and drop to burn a further session, adding in effect to
the previous one.
