I have a Pentium III system which was running Windows ME,
and I recently bought Windows XP. I upgraded my system and
everything seemed to work fine, except for my optical
drive. I have a Mad Dog Multimedia "Dominator" combination
52X CD-RW and DVD-ROM.
The drive will allow me to read and explore CDs, but it
will NOT auto-play. I usually get the message "(name of
program) has caused a problem and will have to close."
Even if I manually explore the contents of the drive, it
seems like any EXE file I attempt to use will not open.
I tried uninstalling ME, reformatting, and doing a fresh
install of XP. But the optical drive still won't perform
right. Has anyone had this problem before?
