XP Card Printer problem

I am upgrading a workgroup from Win98 to XP pro. I need to print from MS
Word to a card printer that imparts a number to the magnetic stripe on the
back of the card. I can generate the card but not the encoded stripe. In
Win98 there is a readily available magnetic encoding option in the printer's
settings. Where is the comparable setting in XP?
 
This will be a printer related issue.

Call the manufacturer and ask if they have Wn XP driver files that you can
download or buy.

Failing that, you may need to leave one PC with a DUal Boot 98 / XP config:
just to use this printer.
 
Thanks for your ideas. Up to date drivers did not solve the problem. I've
been thinking (but not wanting to do it) that we will need to leave one
Win98 in place as you also suggested.
