WMC can join a domain during setup but not after the software has been
installed.

I purchased a new lap top with XP Media center operating system.
When I try to join this computer to our Windows 2003 domain the "Network ID"
buttom under the Ssystem Properties | Computer Name is grayed out.
How can I give this computer access to the network resources (i.e.,
printers) on our domain?

Sure. Create the user/password on the server and match it on the
workstation. See:

Although it says "XP Home", the same will apply to your MCE machine.

True, MCE can be set up to a Domain only at first install. However, you can
not change domains or switch back from Workgroups.
