Recently, I accidentally clicked on a link in one of the many spam emails
I've been getting lately. Since then, the computer tends to run slow, and
there is a column of icons on the home page that I can't get rid of. When
the cursor is placed (not clicked) on one of these icons, another small
window pops up with web links.
I've defragemented, run Norton AV, and AdAware SV a couple of times each and
cleaned out whatever I can, but can't make this go away.

Can anyone help??

run spybot search and destroy as well as microsoft antispyware. this should
get rid of the problem for you

I've thought about it and I'm still thinking about it. I do use HOSTS that
way a bit, but I don't use his whole file, depending on the fact that I'm
pretty careful where I go. I have AVG and Microsoft Anti-Spyware running,
but they never catch anything. I also use the Windows firewall.

The easiest way to fix this is to use your System Restore function.
Set it back to a point when the system worked fine. That's the mai
reason it's there

Thanks to all -
Used a spyware removal product call STOPZilla - cleaned the junk off my
home page, as well as a couple of others I didn't know I had.
Still having trouble booting up consistently
