XP / Blaster worm

I'm trying to install the stinger program to clear the
bug out of my XP pro system. However everytime I try to
install it says I need to load the MS03-26 update 1st. I
go to the update page and check for updates. I have
downloaded and installed the same updates (including the
service pack)5 or 6 times and restarted the computer yet
the system never updates, it comes back saying I still
need the same updates. Anyone ever heard of this and have
a clue what's going on????

Thanks for the info.

I have already gone to these links and followed the
directions, but my updates just aren't happening??

Reboot
Disable all unnecessary applications including anti virus.
Install patch by double-clicking.
