Aslaner

I have the the automatic update running daily on my PC but for some reason I
do not see that task in the scheduler?
I never the XP SP2 being downloaded automatically like it should?

Shouldn't I see a scheduled task daily for the Windows update?

The only thing that I see in the task scheduler is as follows;
DRMC.job Symantec related (not sure what it is as such)
Ndetect.exe Symantec related , it says that the scheduled task didn't run
?
HPQfrucl.exe HP printer related (not sure what it is as such)

any help appreciated

One way to verify the scheduled task for automatic update would be to
a) Right Click on My Computer
b) Click on Properties
c) Click on "Automatic Updates" tab

This would give you settings for "Automatic Update".
If you want to verify your PC is setup correctly for auto updates, you can
follow instructions from
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/protect/windowsxp/updates.aspx

Or, Let the wizard from website do it for you.
http://protect.microsoft.com/security/protect/WSA/en/default.asp

Alternatively you could download the full install from following link and
install it yourself. Please note the full install download is approx 270 MB
large so for slow connection it would long time
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

Otherwise, if you want to wait long for ordering a CD, here's the link.
Please note that CD is not yet available.

Me too. I have automatic update set but when the appointed time comes it
won't trigger either when already connected to the internet or not. Ideas,
anyone?

David.

David,
If you mean your appointed time is the time that's set on the automatic
update, [default is 03:00], then that is the installation time, NOT the
download time. It will download automatically when you connect to the
internet, probably in stages over time, and when ready, will install at the
time you have on auto update. If you are switched off at that time, it will
install as soon as you switch your computer on again.
