XP and P4C800 using SATA raid controller as non raid

Hi there,

Can I use the SATA raid controller as a non raid controller i.e. four SATA
hard drives off all 4 SATA points only not using any form of raid?

Which SATA controller should I use to boot my OS from?

I've installed my OS (XP pro) from the non SATA rail controller but cannot
see the SATA hard drives on the SATA raid controller how do I see them or
how can I load my OS from the SATA raid controller but without using any
raid formation.

Many thanks in advance for any pointers.

Tim.

I don't have SATA raid , I have IDE but on boot does your
controller setup run ?? If I don't setup a raid set then
they are seen as regular SCSI drives with out the raid
set. I would think your's would be similar.

Hi there,

Have done that and then enabled the raid controller in the BIOS with IDE
enabled then I found that I could not install from the SATA raid controller
but could from the SATA standard controller once XP installed then had to
load the Asus raid controller software and then I could see the drives on
both controllers.

So seems to work and on start up the raid controller just shows the 2 hard
drives that are connected to it.

Many thanks for your advice, Tim.
