Has anyone heard that the XP license has language stating
that it is illegal to run Office 97 under the Windows XP
OS?

Merci.

PS We know there are many other reasons not to do this,
and are trying to extricate ourselves from the situation.

Don't think this is true. Never heard of it. Nothing about Office 97 in
the Windows XP license I agreed with Microsoft.

Office 97 works fine in XP.

You can read yourself the license you agreed to with Microsoft by
running "winver" and clicking on the relevant link. Maybe you or your
company agreeed something else?

This is very definitely *not* true. You can run any software you
want under any operating system you want.

There are *no* reasons not to do this. Office 97 works fine under
Windows XP, and if it meets your needs, then it is exactly what
you *should* run.
