XP and ME ICS problem

C

Cuzman

I have an XP Pro PC that is connected to the internet via a USB ADSL
modem. I have a second PC in the house with Windows ME, and these are
both networked via a Netgear DS106 hub.

I have previously had these two systems networked for folder sharing and
ICS with no problems whatsoever. However, since upgrading my XP Pro
system hardware and re-installing XP Pro, I can not get the Windows ME
system to connect to the internet.

I can't see that there is anything wrong with the hardware as I can
share folders between the systems. In fact, I also have a system tray
icon that appears on the Windows ME system which tells me how long the
XP Pro system has been connected to the internet (!?). Even with this
displayed, the Windows ME system has no access to the internet.

Windows Firewall is turned off on the XP Pro system, and I am using
Kerio Personal Firewall (KPF) and AVG Free Edition for security. I get
the same problems with both of these turned off, so I can not see where
the denial of internet access is coming from.

I have changed a few options here and there to see if I can get this to
work, but all has been to no avail. Can anyone advise me on what I
might have done wrong? Is there a way to reset all the networking
options on both systems so that I can start again from scratch?

TIA

Just a side note-
Sygate Personal Firewall has support for ICS that Kerio doesn't.
