XP and languages

Good day;

I live in Italy and would like to buy a new notebook. Almost all n.b. on the
italian market come with Windows XP Home or Professional edition already
installed.

As I need to write in both Arabic (right to left) and English when using
Explorer, Excel, Word and Outlook I wonder which Xp edition suits me:

- Windows XP Home edition or Windows XP Professional?

- I hope I do not have to install Windows XP Professional multilingual or a
special Arabic Enabled version; otherwise, I have to pay for the upgrade?

Kindly note that i am not interested to read the buttons and instructions
appearing in the above stated applications in Arabic i only want to be able
to write in Arabic.

- I remember to have read somewhere that the XP Professional English Version
does the job. Does that mean that there is an Italian version for Windows XP
Professional and that it is useless for my needs?

Thanks in advance
Carlo

You will need Windows XP Pro and a word processing application that has the capability to write right to left such as Microsoft Word 2000, 2002, or 2003.

How to enable right-to-left language support for Word 2003 and Word 2002 on computers that are running on Windows Server 2003, on Windows XP, or on Windows 2000:

How to set up right-to-left functionality for Arabic or Hebrew in Office 2000:

How to enable Arabic language support in Windows XP:

Farsi support in Windows 2000 and Windows XP:

- I remember to have read somewhere that the XP Professional English Version
does the job. Does that mean that there is an Italian version for Windows XP
Professional and that it is useless for my needs?

I think this only applies if you are using the MUI (multi-language user interface) which you do not need for what you want to do.

Thank Ronnie.

On the computer i am planning to buy Wind. XP Professional is installed
along with "Microsoft office One Note 2003".

Will that edition of M. Office do the job?

Thanks again

Thanks and another question if i may!

I also found on the market a note book with "Widows XP Media center".
Can this edition of windows XP replace the XP professional for the
requirements previously mentioned?

Kind regards
Carlo

The Media Center Edition is a superset of XP Pro. You should not have any problems using the language modules on this version.
