XP and Java

I understand that Microsoft no longer support Java. Could their lack of
support cause problems when using Java? Is there a way to run a program
without the Java program from Sun?

Hello David,
Microsoft have been forced for legal reasons to stop distributing the Java
Virtual Machine, which allows Windows to run Java programs. They do however
still support installations of the JVM with security patches. You are right
in thinking that this prevents native Windows from running Java, but the
solution is simply to download the version created by Sun Microsystem which
is 100% Java compliant. Microsoft's version was tweaked to better support
Microsoft J++, their own Java development language, which was deemed by Sun
to be against the ethos of Java , as its supposed to be the same cross all
platforms. If you really want a Microsoft JVM-and there is no reason why you
would need it-the executable can easily be found on the internet.
